DVI-dual versus DVI-sigle

Hi to all, excuse my ignorance - I have HIS HD 4850 (DVI-D output) and Samsung P2070 (DVI/VGA input). It runs only in analog mode. When I am trying to use DVI-single link connection (2x9pins +flat) it fails. Do I have to use DVI-D (24pins+flat) cable? I am just asking before I go and buy cable. Thx for help

no you need a DVI-A cable. which is 1x8, 2x2 pins and flat pins.

Thanks, I think I have it - it runs however in Analog mode. I thought if I want go Digital I need to comply wit a video card output?

Do you really notice a difference between analog and digital other than when you're straining to see a difference?

Thx for remark, I do not think so but if I have monitor maximum resolution and video card that supports it I would like to run it normal max mode not to strain a card and monitor in any way.
