tl;dr will the thermal compound (arctic cooling mx-4) on the heatsink/cpu be strong enough or should i glue the retention bracket on the board.
A couple of days ago I installed an amd 4800+ (up from amd 3800+ x1) and I stupidly unscrewed the retention brackets and now it won't stay put with the screws in it since its loose and I set up my pc in a vertical position as usual, but the next morning, the HS fell onto my video card (luckily both the video card and cpu survived since i turned off the power strip) and I went to put it back after cleaning the thermal paste and I had to put the pc in a horizontal position. I'm wondering if the thermal compund (arctic cooling mx-4) on the HS compund will be sturdy enough to handle the pressure or should I (not a too brilliant idea) glue/put thermal compound on the retention bracket.
