If you want to play at the TVs full 1080 resoloution then yes, you're gonna need a bigger card.
What is your current budget and what other games do you play?
You wont see an impreovement in video playback with a new card.
You could probably get beter FPS is COD4 though. If you want to play games at 1080p on the TV something like a HD4870 1gig, or a gtx260 216core would be plenty of power for COD.
Dunno much about the TV, but if its 1080p, you are better off with a new card for games, 720p - no need to change. Anyway, if its 1080p, get a GTX 275.

currently only cod but am thinking about crysis.
as far as budget am thinking in range of 250. to 300. canadian.
@ toage: You have a nice rig for games but I am not sure it would be right to suggest a strong card for someone who does not seem to be an avid gamer.
The HD4850/9800GTX (or GTS250) will be a big upgrade for gaming and play COD easily with all the eye candy turned on and Crysis at medium at 1080 resoloution but will not leave much headroom for more demanding titles in the future.
The GTX260 and HD4870 are getting cheap now and either will run Crysis on high
and laugh at COD, no matter how high you set the preferences. Both will have a little in reserve for more demanding games.
The GTX275/HD4890 are at the top of your budget and have performance to match although I would go for the GTX275, it is just that little bit faster.
None of the above will really improve your video/movie playback.

Edit: Yes, installation is simple. Just download the latest Cat 9.4 drivers from the AMD/ATI website, plugin the card connect the Power cables, and you are good to go.

What sort of import duties will you face shipping from US to Canada?
This looks OK and it's sourced locally but you might want to check with TigerDirect and Newegg.CA about warranties.

To all that have responded thank you very much. It was with the forums help that I was able to piece together my rig although I had to have it built for me. Will attempt this upgrade myself.
