Hey guys, I have a situation in which I need some advice. I am buying a new computer and I have narrowed it down to two choices. Basically the computers both have 8 gig's of ram and a TB hard drive. The source of the confusion is in the processor and GPU. In choice a I could have a Amd Phenom X4 9750 Quad Core 2.4 Ghz with a Ati Radeon 4870hd. Or I could go with choice b, which is fifty bucks cheaper, and have a AMD Phenom II X4 910 quad-core processor (2.6 Ghz) but with only the Radeon 4850. I want to play graphically intensive games such as Crysis on the highest settings possible at high resolutions. Which computer should I go with? Thanks!

Go with the one having the fastest GPU (Radeon HD 4870). If high resolution means greater than 1680 x 1050, then none is powerful enough at the highest settings. http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=3341

U don't need 8 GB of ram, 4 GB ddr2 is enough for anything, u will just waste money for nothing. definitely go for the 4870 if u can, its a great card, better than 4850. u can even get an AMD phenom II 720 Black Edition, its a triple core, a beast of cpu, lot of overclockers use it. Since there are just a few applications that take advantage of all 4 cores, u can add the saved money from the CPU to get a better GPU. Gaming is more about the GPU anyway.

Go with the AMD Phenom II X4 910.

Either OC the HD4850 or sell it and buy the video card of your choice.

(depending upon your gaming rez you may want a 1Gb card)
