I am looking to put a new system together. To date I have decided on the i7 940 for the processor and am looking at either the GeForce GTX 295 or the ATI HD 4870 X 2 2 Gb for graphics. I am not looking to overclock the system and have no plans to implement SLI. With that in mind, what would be a good choice of MB? This will primarily be a gaming system.

Asus P6T series motherboards seem to be the "reference" i7 motherboard, but I like Gigabyte.

I'd recommend not getting the 940, as the 920 costs far less and can easily overclock up to and past the 940's speeds. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the heads up and advice. To date I have picked up the i7 920, the Asus P6T Deluxe V2 and the EVGA 275. The Silverstone Fortress FT01-B ATX Black has been ordered and is on its way. Memory, hard drives, CPU cooler and writers are being researched s well. I am going to wait for the Windows 7 release for the operating system. Any comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
