So, I'm new to the "pro" part of computing and I've come across so many new things.

Latest issue was my memories, had to RMA them. Unfortunately, because they didn't have the same kit in store, they just sent me the money back.

I always thought that it was impossible to run memories above 1333mhz that do not have EPP 2.0 on the 790i ultra sli chipset. Then I read about bus speeds.

I know the chipset supports bus speeds up to 1600mhz and to have my intel Q9550 run at bus speed 1600mhz won't be hard. Just up the fsb to 400mhz right? Q9550 can run at fsb 400mhz right? Does this mean I can run 1600mhz memories that do not support EPP 2.0? I don't mean buying 1600mhz memories but lowering them to 1333mhz, I mean use the full 1600mhz.

Should be lots of people experienced with bus speeds and memories, come on! Just need to know if I can get 1600mhz memories working so I know what to buy later today.

If 1600mhz memories actually work I'll buy Patriot Extreme Performance Viper 6144MB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz (8-8-8-24), I think.

By the way, if I get the CPU to fsb 400mhz then it will be stuck at max 3.4Ghz. If I up the fsb further, won't that force me to up the chipset fsb and memory fsb as well?

ChiLLon, these questions are more related to OverClocking - might try there.

And put together a list of your main hardware, including exact model numbers, ideally a link to the mfg site showing the specs.
