Hey, I am going to build a new computer, and I want it to play crysis on medium/high fairly well.

I already have a 4830 video card that I plan to crossfire with a 4830/4850/4870 and I have a monitor mouse and keyboard, I have windows XP, and I have DVD rom

I am planning on crossfiring my 4830 with a 4830/4850/4870 and want suggestions on what other parts to buy (all from newegg.com)

And also, if I xfire a 4830 with a 4850/4870 the 4850/4870 will lower itself down to a 4830? right?

Thanks!

$541 with shipping, after rebates its $496. That doesn't include an OS, if you need an OS to fit the budget before rebates, then look on craigslist for a cheap license.

That's all good and stuff, but I said I needed a 2nd video card to crossfire with my 4830, and will a 4850/4870 crossfire with a 4830, and if it does will the 4850/4870 lower its performance to a 4830?

I went with the cheapest good quality stuff I could find, you won't be able to do what you want to do on that budget, you need to expand it a bit more. You could get a cheap processor like the E5200 and OC the crap out of it which will take about $50 off the price after you factor in the price of a good cooler.

I could have built a better rig with your budget but for the fact you made it clear you want all your parts from newegg.....

Ok, so if a put 4830 and 4870 in crossfire the 4870 will lower it's performance to a 4830.

I've seen worse, but there are certainly things that can be improved. The HD is slower than the WD3200AAKS that xthekidx posted above.

Rosewill PSU's are best used as door stops. You'll want to look for a quality unit from Corsair, Antec, PC Power & Cooling, Seasonic, etc...

Cases really come down to personal preference, but here's a combo of the Antec 300 and the CPU you picked:

Ok thanks, good to know.

So rosewill psu's are out of the option?

that motherboard you suggested on one of the pci-x16 it only runs at x4 speed, that's why I didn't pick it... is that a big drop in performance?

Wow it says the OCZ fatal1ty is modular, but it doesn't look like it is...

Isn't modular when you can disconnect the cords from the PSU? I always wanted one like that...

*EDIT* my bad, it is modular! I was looking at the main connectors thinking it wasn't, this is the PSU for me!

Thanks!

Yes, the OCZ PSU is modular. Look closely at the pictures and you'll see where you plug in the cables. There's one picture that shows the modular cables by themselves with their carrying/storage bag. The standard cables that pretty much every computer needs aren't modular, but the rest are. I have a modular Corsair 520HX and it's nice just using the cables that I need. I usually don't suggest modular PSU's because the price difference usually isn't justified, but this OCZ PSU is a great value.

Ok everything seems good... now I REALLY can't decide on these two cases.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119137

Raidmax is cooler looking, has more fans (I think) both sides of the cases fold out (incredibly easy acces to motherboard)

Coolermaster is better quality, usb and audio are on top, it looks decent, it has a cool design were the PSU sits on the bottom, and has better reviews, and it's probably a better case for airflow too....

what do you think?

If it was me, I'd choose the Cooler Master case in a heartbeat. Cases really come down to personal preference, though. Just pick whichever one you like best. Just keep in mind that quality and cooling wise the Cooler Master case is superior all-around.

+1 CM case.

In that kind of dual GPU setup, the CPU you chose is going to be a bottleneck on your system, which is why I went with the E8400. Now you could OC that 7750 BE, but not without a decent cooler, which will run you about $40 or so.

Man, if it were me, if you are wanting to do crossfire and all, I think I would personally try to look at the phenom 2 x3 at least instead of the kuma. Might be less of a bottleneck, but that's just my opinion.

I have two nice suggestions for you...I am sure u must have read the comparison between this and the E8xxx core 2 duos and the x3 720 BE...if not then u should...IMO these should be better suited for now and the future with games and app. starting to use more then two cores....they work almost as fast as the core 2 in most games and much faster in other stuff like encoding etc

First the AM3 build

Antec Three Hundred - $54.95
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129042

Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200AAJS 320GB -$49.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136098

ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 DDR3 AMD 790GX -$139.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131366

Antec EA650 650W Continuous Power -$79.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) -$59.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231189

AMD Phenom II X3 720 2.8GHz Socket AM3 $206.98 - $15 (MIR)
SAPPHIRE 100265HDMI Radeon HD 4830 - combo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.183511

total = $ 621.07 (including shipping and tax) - $15 MIR= $606.07 final price

first a little recap...this system is screaming fast with a crossfire setup...the components i have chosen are AM3 board and DDR3 ram...although u don't get much performance increase from Am2+ and DDR2 speeds, but it is a completely new platform and easy to upgrade to a newer processor in the future if desired, on the contrary AM2+ is a dead end with similar performance atm...what u don't get at this budget is an after market cooler with this setup...but if u can spare some change then get the cooler i have selected in the AM2+ system below

Second option is to go with the older AM2+ chipset, DDR2 ram and a good Xigatek cooler for lesser money...again u can crossfire and overclock the x3 720 to very high speeds but the upgrade options left later would be an x4 940 and nothing faster then that.

BIOSTAR TFORCE TA790GX -$104.99 (&-$10 MIR= $94.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138130

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 CAS 4 -$41.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231148

XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler -$36.99 (-$10 MIR= $26.99)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233003

and rest of the components are common b/w the two builds

toal $604,73 (including shipping and tax) - $35.00 MIR = $569 final price

The biostar board overclocks very nicely and if lucky u mught get a fourth core unlocked with this motherboard....so here u have it...two very fast triple core systems...one with newer tech but without an after market cooler and the second is good for the moment but not much future upgrade available in terms of cpu and memory speeds, but it does get the nice cooler
