I've been working on this issue the entire day and I'm close to throwing the rig out the window, seariously.
My first memory kit was faulty so I had to RMA. They had no replacement so they sent me the money back instead and today I bought a new kit, namely: Patriot Extreme Performance Viper 6144MB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz (8-8-8-24) (3x2GB) (PVT36G1600LLK)
First I was unsure if my motherboard could run 1600mhz, but after googling and talking so some people it was clear that if some people could do it then it was very much possible.
The thing is, my motherboard refuses to run these memories in any frequency that isn't 1067mhz. I've tried voltages, I've tried timings, I've tried to link, unlink. I have really tried everything I can come up with. My old faulty kit could run at 1333mhz.
If I do run a frequency that isn't 1067mhz then my computer will freeze as soon as my start-up programs have launched, right after I log in in windows that is.
The memories are fine when running memtest86.
So what the hell is this? This rig only caused me problems so I really want this *** solved once and for all.
Please help me with this.
