--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey guys.

I have had the same computer now since the end of 2006, and now seeing some of the amazing stuff there is available now, I have decided that I want an entirely new PC.

Here is a list of the things I would like to have in my new build.

Intel i7 Extreme-920 Processor.
Intel X-58 Motherboard.
Seagate Barracuda 1TB or 1.5TB Hard Drive (For Data)
128MB Velociraptor Hard Drive (For the OS)
12GB DDR3 RAM.
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295
Media Card Reader With Bluetooth.
SoundBlaster X-FI Xtreme 5.1 Sound-Card.
LG GGW-H20W BluRay-RW Drive.
1000W? Multi-GPU PSU with UPS.
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Edition.
Alienware ALX/P2 Chassis - Black - AlienFX Lighting w/ Software.
Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000.
Luxeed Keyboard & Luxeed Numberpad - Black.
Logitech G9 Laser Mouse.
LG 27” M2794D Full HD (1080p) Monitor - Black.
Logitech G51 5.1 Sound System.
Please advise me on my choices, add anything I may have missed, and of course if you know of something better than what I have listed, please correct me.

If you can find these components cheaper, then please do let me know, as obviously cheaper the better.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Kind regards!

I haven't really constrained myself to a budget. But if you need a figure then I would say around £3000.

Gaming, Designing, Everything running at once! Haha.

-Asus P6T6 WS Revolution MB
-i7 965 EE
-WD Caviar Black 1TB (don't get that seagate drive, it blows)
-They don't make a 128GB velociraptor...try 300gb Velociraptor
-12gb DDR3-1600 ram OCZ, Mushkin, G Skill or Corsair (last resort)
-2 GTX 285's in SLI
-Why do you want an alienware case? There are so many better ones: CM Cosmos series, HAF, Storm Sniper, Antec 1200, P193, Thermaltake Armour series...take your pick
-Don't get a soundcard until you try onboard sound, onboard sound is very good nowadays and you would have to spend a lot on a sound card to hear any difference.
-Corsair 1000HX PSU so you can add another GTX 285 if you want
-Noctua NH-U12P 1366 CPU Cooler

Thats what you should be looking at. You can add in those extras, those are mostly up to personal preference.

I don't think SSD's are worth it right now, they are a new technology and still have a few kinks to work out. The ones that work well are very expensive and not worth $3/GB

Is it wise to get a 30GB SDD to just install Vista Ultimate 64 onto and nothing else?

Then get a 1TB+ Hard Drive for files, games, music, movies, photo's etc?
