How can i access my external hd without reformatting it?

Hello,
I'm having problems getting my new laptop with windows 7 to recognise my old mac hd, which I've put in a USB enclosure. I've been into disk management and assigned it as the E: drive, but when in my computer it tells me it needs to be formatted when I clcik on it... how can I access it without formatting?

Mac formats its drives in a different way to windows. Thats why windows can't read the drives.
You need to install third party software to read the mac formatted drive.
