This is an area I'm not really good with, so I would appreciate some helpful advice here.

Anyways, I just put together a new system and installed 2 sticks of 2GB CORSAIR XMS3 DDR3 Memory.

CORSAIR XMS3

Those guys ^

My motherboard is a MSI 790FX-GD70.

Bios Version 1.4

MSI 790FX-GD70

In bios and various software monitors it shows the ram is only running at 1033. Now from what I understand, I need to overclock the memory to get to the advertised 1600. But shouldnt they be running at 1333 out of the box? If not, can somebody give me some pointers on what I need to do to configure bios to get the ram working at its proper speed.

Or is something just wrong with the mobo/sticks? Anybody else using the same combo board/ram?

I should also point out that I am running a AMD Phenom II X4 955 as my cpu.

I have the same memory in my system. My system automatically set it to 1066mhz as well. Just manually set the DRAM settings in your BIOS to 1600mhz with 9-9-9-24 timings @ 1.8 volts. This is what Corsair recommends the settings be for this particular RAM. Good luck.

Ok, I think I got this figured out, but I still have a few questions if you guys dont mind. I set my settings to 9-9-9-24 @ 1.8v as suggested. Everything seems to be working fine now and my memory is showing up at 1600 now. However, when reading up regarding my mobo, it was suggested I set my FSB/DRAM Ratio to 1:4. I did, and everything seems to be working ok, but Im wondering if that is something I should bother with, or should I set back to auto?

Also, what about Dram Timing Mode? Should that be set to Auto, DCT 0, DCT 1, or Both? Right now I have it set to Both, with 9-9-9-24 set in each. Does that matter, or should I change that back to Auto as well? I have two sticks of 2GB Memory totaling 4GB. I have both sticks in 1 Channel. Black slots, not Blue. So in Dimm 1 and Dimm 2.

Dimm 1 - Black
Dimm 2 - Black
Dimm 3 - Blue
Dimm 4 - Blue

Sorry to bring back an old thread but i'm having a similar problem.

I have 3x 2gb xms3 1333 running in triple channel that also seem to only be running at 1066. Does this fix also apply to tri-channel? Anyone know what timings/ voltage i should set them to?

Also has anyone ever heard of doing an OC on 1333 up to 1600?
