Hi All,
I have a E6550 2.33 GHz Core2Duo processor. I am planning to pair this with either a 4770 or 4850. I have a 17 inch monitor with native 1440X900. Do you think the card will be an overkill for the CPU in games played at high details with AA and AF preferably. I have not seen reviews with a slow processor so I am worried a bit about the card's performance.
BTW 4770 or 4850? It is mighty close to make a call. Once I sort out the processor issue I will bother about which card

The processor will be fine, as to the gfx card, which ever is cheaper really.

Thanks a lot strangestranger. And after reading the reviews on TH I think I will settle for HD 4770. There does not seem to be much of a change between them (4850 and 4770) except at ultra high resolutions, which I anyway will not have access to.

I think that is the right choice. I believe the 4770 uses less power (thus cooler) too, so it is a win-win. Price wise I think they were close too, but if not go for the cheaper. And that CPU should still be quite sufficient.

Thank you EXT64 for your opinion. As I have seen benchmarks only with the i7's, I was very skeptical of getting this card. Now I feel confident to grab one.
