Overclocking E8400 4ghz+

Hi guys/girls dose anyone know what setting i need to use in the bios to overclock the cpu to 4ghz+ i can get it to 3.6ghz easy but i can get anything over that. any advice would be gratfull. Thanks

My system is

Motherboard - Asus P5E3 premium
Cpu - E8400 (3Ghz)
Ram - Kingston HyperX DDR3-1600 4gb Dual Channel
Gpu - Sapphire HD 4870 2GB DDR5 Vapor-X Edition
Cpu Cooler - CoolerMaster V10

If you try to get over 3.6GHz what happens? Not all CPUs can get to 4GHz. There is a point with all CPUs where it doesn't matter how much voltage you give it - it just wont be stable.

Also.. how are you getting to 3.6? What settings are you using?

i let the motherboard use it own auto overclocking on it strongest setting. if i change it on manual and do it myself then the computer feels slower

fsb to 440-450
vcore to 1.45
cpu multiplier to 9
monitor your temperatures.
..and turn auto anything off.
