Both cards (recertified) are on sale at Newegg for $169 and $269. Is the extra $100 worth the performance difference. If I pay 59% percent more for the GTX 280, will I at least get a 50% performance gain? Please chime in....

Get any GTX 275 = Beat the hell out of GTX 280 (for less money). OCed gtx 275 can compare with GTX 285 ;)

Just one of many, also I think you can finf cheaper ones too ;)

That GTX 275 is also $100 more than the GTX 260. I'd rather take the $100 and apply it to a larger monitor, ie 24" instead of 22".

Okay this 24" monitor is only $50 more than a 22" which will leave me $50 left to buy 4 Gigs of RAM.

So, if I go with the GTX 275, it's almost like $200 turnaround because I really want to game on a 24" and I'd still have to buy the RAM. I guess I have to compare the cards' benchmaks at 1920 x 1200 resolution.

What are the warranties? The Egg has several GTX260 for $179 (or $169 with rebates), which are going to have far better warranties and a new GTX 275 is about the same as the recertified 280, has similar performance and, again a full warranty.

Thanks everyone for the inputs. I ordered a new XFX GTX 260 and will use the money I "saved" buy not going with the GTX 275 for a 24" monitor.

I have a GTX 260 Core 216 and a 24" @ 1920x1200 and I can play everything maxed out, even Crysis although it's a little laggy.

I've never run FRAPS or anything but to my eye it's probably around 20-25, believe what you want. Also that's without AA or AF because (in my opinion) at 1920x1200 and up you really don't need them.
