I am undecided between the 4830 and 4770. being around 90 dollars shipped, now, it's a tough choice. But I do want to replace the cooler, and need to know if the 4770 is compatible with the current ones, without bending things?

According to Arctic Cooling's website, the Accelero S1 supports the 4830, and the 38XX/36XX series cards. The reference cooler used on the AMD/ATI 4770 engineering sample AMD supplied to tech sites for evaluation was the same used on 38XX series cards. So, it's easy to deduce that since the Accelero S1 fits 38XX cards, it'll work on a 4770, too, since they both use the same reference cooler.

 

But, it would probably be a good idea to contact Arctic Cooling support for direct confirmation instead of asking here...

Indeed, while the cooler on the 4770 is suppose to be based on the cooler for the 3870 it's possible there are some differences.
