I need to know if my motherboard will support Intel Core 2 Quad CPUs.
Also, how would a Core 2 Quad Q9400 compare with an AMD Phenom II x3 720? thanks!

I'm pretty sure that your VIA PT890 chipset won't support any of the Core 2 Quad CPUs.

Here's a PT890 board by Gigabyte showing its CPU list. All those with N/A aren't supported. Might check similar mfgs to see their list.
