is there a cover that you can put over you satellite dish to keep the
rain and snow out?, if so, where can i get on?.
another question for you. why does the satellite dish have so many
problems?. it always goes out at the slightest weather problem.
i switched from cable to satellite becsuse of the high rates of cable
tv. i had no problems with cable, but wanted something i thought was
better, satellite tv does have a clearer piture than cable and all
digital channels, but so many problems with the dish.

I recommend a dish heater. While more labor intensive to install, once
installed it avoids accumulation and icing on a dish in severe
weather. You will need a sealed outdoor outlet, and outdoor weather rated
power cord running from a heating patch that sticks to the back of the
dish to the outlet. The one I use has an inexpensive temperature sensor
that switches on when it gets below 40°F.
When the climate changes and use is no longer required, just disconnect
the plug from the outlet and it is ready for next year if you need it.

Could you please give me a source for the heater? Our dish is at the
top of a very steep roof and there is no way that I would ever be able
to clean off accumulated snow.

Yes you can buy a cover for your dish from a nearby satellite dealer and
you might need to realign your dish. Shouldn't have any drop out unless
a severe storm is in area. Heavy clouds can cause dropout. WS
