Hello,
i was installing windows xp on the machine, but during the installation phase it failed and prompted these words
stop:coooo221, unknown hard error\systemRoot\system32\ntdll.dll.
what could be the possible cause and solution to that

How are you installing this? From an older Windows or from the boot disk?

When exactly did this error come up? When you tried to format the drive? Or later? During the first boot?

First thing I recoment during setup errors like this, when it comes to a file error, is to run a disk scan on the drive to check for errors. Could be an option in the BIOS to do that, or a downloadable disk from either the PC vendor or the drive vendor.

Try copying the ntdll.dll manually to the hard drive with the recovery console( pressing r , while the cd loads)
type
cd C:\ type enter
cd windows type enter
cd system32 type enter
rename ntdll.dll ntdll.old type enter
expand Your_cd_rom:\i386\ ntdll.dl_ c:\windows\system32\ntdll.dll type enter
Then installl normally...
If it's not working ,try with a differet Win xp cd. :hello:
