I just completed putting together my new I7 machine and I'm running into an odd problem. It posted on the first try, no problems, but now as I try to install an OS, or even simply let it sit idle in BIOS setup for a few seconds the screen goes blank, as if receiving no signal. This has happened with two separate monitors, so is likely an issue of the graphics card, right? Is there anything that I should check for aside from ensuring that all connections are properly made and the card firmly seated on the mobo?

Relevant stats:

I7 920
ASUS P6T Motherboard
Gigabyte 1Gb ATI 4870 video card
Corsair TX 750W PS
6 gigs Corsair DDR3

As it turns out I was just coming back to report what I had found that was causing the problem, and daship is right on the money.

I've got it in a Raidmax Smilodon case, and there's a widget to hold large PCI-E cards in place. In my case the widget was sticking into the rotation of the video card fan and stopping it. Yipes. Lets hope there's no serious trouble due to that!
