Harddisk Failure

Hi everyone!


Since a few days ago, I started having problems with my HDD's. I don't know if the problem is occurring on multiple of my HDD's, but I want to take action before it's fatal and all my data is gone while I still have the chance to backup it and I was wondering if you could give me some advice.

The HDD makes a ticking sound randomly. When it ticks, the entire system freezes until the ticking is over. It only makes one ticking sound for just a second or 2. I know these are symptoms of a HDD failure, but the problem is that I don't know which of my four drives is giving the problem.

Is there any way to find out which of the four drives is giving the failure problems? They are not in RAID0 and are connected via S-ATA.

Disconnect one drive at a time. Continue until you either find the drive or it turns out to be your boot drive (the last one still connected).
