I am building a PC for my friend, and the software he needs to run it for requires a P4 3.4Ghz, however I want to install an Intel Core Duo. Want is an equivilant Intel Core Duo to a P4 3.4Ghz?

Pretty much any Core 2 Duo out there will be faster than a P4 3.4.

Thank you for the help. Also I was wondering how big of a power supply I would need. He wants me to keep the cost of this PC relatively low, so the rest of the parts would be average. Here are the specs I have picked out so far:

Sapphire Radeon HD 4670 PCI-e

M-Audio Delta 1919 LT PCI

Kingston HyperX 4GB (4x1GB)

Western Digital 500GB SATA

Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R LGA 775

Intel Dual Core E2200

LG 22X DVD Burner

the slowest one is a 2.8 so you'll be fine there but get the best you can afford that is most likely a min requirement

You wouldn't need a huge power supply for that. I'd go with something like the Corsair CX400.
