Western digital dumping defective external drives

I got a "refurbished" external Western Digital drive through eCost. It was DOA. Sent it to Western Dig and they sent me another "refurbished" one that only works on one computer if I knock on it to get it spinning. Are they using eCost to dump a badly designed product? Seems like it to me. They lost, I passed up a whole shelf of their internal drives and got a Seagate the next time.

    Do a quick google search on the matter. From what I can see, it seems to be a pretty common issue for many who buy WD drives from ecost.
