So, my situation is this... I'm trying to record my voice over an instrumental version of a song. When I play the song on my headphones and even unplugged, it records the audio I'm listening to and not my voice. My question is, what do I do to fix this, one, and what are the best settings to use as far as recording is concerned, two.

What are software you using to record with?

Go into you're sound device settings and make sure that stereo mix isn't selected (XP only). Also, check that the software you use is recording from the input of the realtek rather than just the soundcard.
