Recently, my computer stopped reading any CD's or DVD's. My computer tries
to load the disc but then just stops. When I go to My Computer it doesn't
recognize that there is a disc. Any help on what is wrong and what I can do
to fix the problem?

Register or log in to remove.

depending on your version of windows ...

RIGHT click on My computer > properties > hardware > device manager .

When the dialog box opens look for your cd drive . When you find it RIGHT click on it and select the REMOVE option .

Then reboot .

If it doesnt work after that then the drive is dead and should be replaced

1. Are any connectors loose?
2. Do you have a good enough power supply?
3. Have you checked to make sure that there's no filth on the lense?
4. If all else fails, it's dead. It should only be dead if it's quite old though. Optical drives last a long time if looked after.
