Restore points contain backup files such as:
The following resources are backed up:[6]
Registry
Files in the Windows File Protection (Dllcache) folder
Local user profile
COM+ and WMI Databases
IIS Metabase
Specific file types monitored [5]
These are created everytime by Windows when you start your computer. So for each day normally, you will have a restore point to fall back on. You definitely do not need them all so you could delete all but several of the most recent.
