Hello,
my recently bought wd 7200rpm 500gb Hardrive's transfer speed is 21.6 mb/s iam guessing thats way to slow what can i do to fix this
???

my full system specs

core i3 530 @ 3.4GHz
2gb ddr3 kingston ram
h55-usb3 mobo
sapphire ati 5770 stock
wd 500gb 7200rpm HD

Firstly, how did you measure transfer rate?
Secondly, can you run HDTach (http://www.simplisoftware.com/Public/index.php) and post a screen shot of the results, or just tell us.
Which model of WD disk it it exactly?

er this is kinda stupid but i measured it when i was transfering large files from partition to partition

Better use HDTach as Plumble mentioned to check your average read/write speeds and see what you get.

About the only thing slower than transferring large files from partition to partition on the same drive is transferring lots of small files.

There is so much physical movement of the heads involved in a partition to partition transfer that it radically skews the transfer rate downward.

Double check with HDTach though just to be sure. It should be fine.
