Can anyone refer me to a nice guide that explains the in's and out's of installing a TV tuner onto a desktop. I'd like to be able to connect my CPU to the DirecTV connection and watch/TiVo programs on my computer. I have absolutely no experience here, so I'm hoping to find some resources on options and a step-by-step if possible.

Corsair TX 650
Mushkin 4GB PC2 6400 RAM
Sapphire HD 4870 1GB

I don't understand why you would need a tv tuner to watch TIVO'ed shows on your computer.

sorry--didn't mean that. I meant I want to be able to use my pc to record shows from the tuner (like a TiVo).

Have you decided on a TV tuner yet?

ATSC/QAM (for North America) or DVB-T (Freeview over air for rest of world) ?

Hmm. No. I don't even know the diffrence. Therein lies my problem. I need the tv-on-the-PC newb training course. Any suggestions on places to start looking to learn?
