What causes that? I have that on a couple of videos, I think only some H264 Videos. On other computers, they play fine. I just formatted and re-installed yesterday.

My Setup:

Quote :

x1900 XTX with 2 monitors on it
New HD4870 with 2 monitors on it.
Windows 7 (7100) 64-bit
8 Gigs Ram
Win7codecs from Shark007

Whenever I install ATI's latest 9.4 drivers, or the beta 9.5 drivers, the drivers install, but my x1900 card is disabled. In device manager, a yellow exclamation mark shows up next to my x1900 and the 2 monitors on it turn off. My 4870 is fine, except I get a blue screen of death when I try to play a video, but maybe that's because I haven't restarted?

Even after a restart, the 2 monitors on my x1900 don't turn on. I have to manually select an older x1900 driver manually to get the monitors working again. BUT....

But if I do that, it also downgrades my HD4870 Drivers.

1.) Is there any way to get 9.4/9.5 working on my x1900?
Or if that's not possible...
2.) Is there any way to have different drivers for my x1900 than my 4870 has?

wow wusy, it made me laugh when I read ur post. You seem like you're pretty smart about this stuff. Awesome, wish I could know as much as you do (no sarcasm!) :D

Take out my x1900? Since it seems like its outdated anyways, upgrade to another card? Do I need to get another 4870 if they're my secondary monitors, just used for webpages and viewing videos (no games)?

And also, does this make sense to you? I get NO artifacts when I drag MPC-HC to my x1900, The artifacts show up right at the beginning of the video, but then go away. When its on the 4870, they show up all the time.

Device Manager shows: 8.56.1.13 (3/10/2009) for the drivers for both gfx cards.

Ok, thanks wusy. I'll try to format again this week if I can get the chance.

1.) But as for the switching my HD4870 from hardware decoding to software decoding, you said you'ld recommend me looking into ffdshow?

2.) But wait..the 4870 is supposed to decode h264, right? So I should probably look into reasons why it ISN'T decoding, you're guessing a conflict with the x1900 right? Drivers maybe?

Okay thanks wusy. I'll checkout everything you've said, especially #2 on your last post. Its 5:20AM, so that's all the research i'll do for tonight. I really appreciate it.

Btw, my MPC is 1.065 because I compile my MPC-HC releases my self, from experimental builds. Just Fyi :)
