when playing crysis (w/ 4gb ram, geforce gts250, 650w psu), is there a difference in gaming with an i7 975 and C2D e7400? does gaming depend on the cpu or the gpu?

and, would you rather have: i7 975 + gts 250 or e7400 + gtx 295?

how cheap will the i7 975 be in 2 years? :bounce:

Hmm, the RAM, CPU, and GPU affect gaming a lot, I would probably say more GPU then the other two but the CPU and RAm are major players. And I am pretty sure an 7400 would bottleneck a GTX295. for a 295, you would need something like an i7920 or better for it not to be bottlenecked.

I'd rather go for the E7400 + GTX 295 and overclock the CPU, or a more balanced build, like a Phenom II 955 and a GTX 280.
If you're only gaming, then the GPU is top priority. Don't sacrifice other components just to have the i7...
