Download the motherboard manual from your motherboard manufacturer's web site. It will tell you everything you need to know. If this is a retail computer like a Dell or Acer, you will be limited as to which options you can change.

You want to change certain settings in the bios, or you want to flash the bios?
What do you want to change?

Or if you really want to flash the bios, that's very tricky! You could have a power fluctuation problem, or you could get the wrong verion and then it all goes ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
First check your bios version , then go to the manufacturer site and usually under drivers and support you should see a BIOS tab also. See what version they have. Maybe they don't even have any updates...
Be sure to get the right version, or you can mess it up! And usually those softwares also have backups for your current bios, check that also...
