Hi All,

Been having fun reading all the posts on here. Still have a little confusion so thought I would post my ideas for you to comment on.

I've built my own systems before but have been using macs for the last five years (for work) and have done ok with games running XP on bootcamp. The only thing I really miss using macs is the ability to tinker and upgrade. I use them for work and don't have a beef otherwise.

I'm looking for a system for games, ripping cds and editing photos (in that order). Please take a look at this build and let me know what you think.

CPU: Intel i7 920 $289

CPU Cooler: Xigmatek Dark Knight $40

MB: ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 $290

MEM: Mushkin 6GB (2GBx3) DDR3 7-8-7-20 $140 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820226030

PSU: Corsair 850W $150

Video: 2 x EVGA GTX 260 $210 each, $420 total

HD: WD Caviar Black 1TB $110

OS: Vista Home Premium 64 $100

DVD: LiteON iHAS42-08 $28

Case: I have an Antec Nine Hundred that can be used. Will this be enough room for the GTX 260s in SLI?

Any comments will be appreciated. I have included links to items that I'm uncertain about.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick replies!

I forgot to mention that I'm have a 24 inch monitor (1920x1080). I read somewhere on the forums that GTX 260 in SLI is plenty for this size monitor and anything else would be overkill. What's your opinions on this statement?

Cheers

If it was up to me, I would go with one of these cards down below and add another later on. One gtx 285 almost matches two gtx 260's in SLI. And with that psu you chose, it's a perfect match for two of these cards later on in SLI.

Actually a single GTX 285/ 275 is sufficient for that resolution...And a single GTX 260 can play all the games at that resolutions but unlike the 285/275, you would have to turn down some details...
And Yes the GTX 260 SLI is more than enough...
But for your I would suggest getting a single GTX 275 now and see how it performs at that resolution...
And adding another in SLI when you feel the need...

Thanks All, went with the 285 and changed the memory as suggested. Found two combo deals on the stuff I got as well so saved an extra 30 bucks. Total was $1405 :)
