CPU temp is about 12C higher than core temps. Tried different programs, all the same results. If the cpu temp is correct, I may be passing the max temp on my proc (Phenom II 1075t) Any ideas?

Cpu temp is probably the motherboard temp sensor for the cpu/cpu socket where as coretemp would be the onboard die temp sensor on the cpu itself.
check in your bios : CPU Warning Temperature not CORE Warning Temperature, although CPU temp in Bios not accurate....
