In my on-going quest to keep the inside of my pc as cable free as possible... I'm looking for a SATA backplane for 5 hard drives... but it seems that even though there's a backplane in 99% of the servers out there, it seems that a SATA backplane for a home computer is still not a possibility.

Does a server backplane offer you anything more than a nice neat way to store your hard drives?
