Hello all

I've got an HP Pavilion dv5 Laptop . Recently I've not been able to burn .iso Boot-able file into CDs in my Laptop , so I used to burn them in other PCs . But today I've just uninstalled Linux Ubuntu , and as usual I've got a problem with the grub loader , and Windows I've been able to run since I uninstalled Ubuntu .
The problem here is , the Laptop cannot boot up from CDs . It does only from DVDs . And I want to know , is the problem from the CD room , or there's something else ?
And i it is , how can I fix it ?

Yes, it sounds like your optical drive is either defective or dirty. Try cleaning it with compressed air or a CD cleaner disk. If that doesn't fix the problem, then you will need to replace the DVD/CD-RW itself (not hard nor terribly expensive).

Essentially the laser that is used for the CD function isn't working (there is a different laser for the DVD functions).

Good luck!
