I have a Dell Dimension 4700 and an HDTV. I purchased what I believe to be a PC to HDMI cable to connect my computer to the TV. The computer starts and the Windows Screen appears, then all goes blank and the monitor says "Not Support!" I spoke with Dell who says I need a new Video Card and that it is an End of Life System and is unlikely to be fixed. They recommended a ATI Radeon HD 4350, is that what I need to make this work? I just want to watch netflix on the TV, I do not game and do not want it to be my primary monitor.
Well yes you do need a new video card, I don't think the onboard VGA will be able to support that resolution. But you don't really need a 4350, a 3650 or a 3450 would be fine. You can use those to power the HDTV> Your computer has a PCI-e x16 slot.
