Hi everyone, I'll get straight to the point, my ole CRT is singign the swan's song and it's time to send him to greener pastures (fallout 3 reference intended).

Since I'm not a big fan of LCD displays or widescreen I know nothing about picking up a new monitor, but so far I've narrowed my search to a few options (I don't live in the US nor EU, so other options would be difficult to aquire), so this is what I've come across so far.

Option Number 1
This is the monitor I've been eyeing the more, it comes whit some neat features, like the ability to turn it in 90º to accomodate a document, USB ports in the panel, etc.

HP w2207h:

Option Number 2:
I don't know what to think about this, its a 15% cheaper than the HP and has a higer resolution, the response time is listed as 5ms (2ms GTG) just like the HP, but the brand kinda makes me eerie, also this monitor would mean changing the VGA, (wich will happen in around 6 month minimum)

Benq E220HDA:

Options 3
This one is a 3% more expensive than the HP, your regular 1680*1050 Viewsonic

Samsung Va2216w (PDF warning)

Option 4:
And theres also a 19" viewsonic that costs the same as Option 3 (which puzzles me too)

Samsung VX1962wmp:

Well, that would be it, money is not an issue, all the options are inside budget.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks and bye!

PS: My system config is in my profile

For what it's worth, I own an HP w1907 (1400x900) and like it a lot. Colors, black level, response time all seem good (to my untrained eye).

I would recommend Samsung 2243SW. Its a 22" 1920x1080 16:9 monitor. Good for gaming as well as movies.

And, unlike other LCDs, switching to a lower resolution does not make much of a difference.

Good to hear that coopchennick, that's one more point in favour of the HP.

And hellraiser, thanks for your suggestion, but I probably won't find or won't be able to afford that monitor.

Something to take into consideration is if you get the HP, at least mine has a shiny screen (which I like and I think helps the picture), reflections can get really distracting, it really attracts fingerprints, and I have yet to find a good cleaning solution. Water, vinegar solution, consumer screen cleaner, are all a little streaky but you can only notice when the monitor is off.
