What is the fastest processor that a Pegatron (Asus F8000) P35/G33/G31 LGA775 motherboard can support? Currently I have a Pentium Dual Core 2.7 gHz E5400. I'd like to go Core 2 Quad eventually, like the Q9550, will that work? I am also looking at the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro as the new fan to get if I am able to go Quad.
Any help is appreciated.

If it is a P35 then the Q9550 should work, but if it is a G33/G31 then a 45nm quad might have compatibility problems.

On the CPUZ program it listed the chipset that way: P35/G33/G71.

That means that CPUZ doesn't know I guess... P35 and G33/G31 are totally different chipsets, is it a full ATX or micro ATX? Also you could try using system spec.

Appreciate the help.
I should've said first that I'm a noob. Secondly, I have a stock HP desktop (a6515f), not bare bones.
On System Information, all I can see is Intel (R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family. No mention of P35 whatsoever. It only came up on CPUZ. Weird.

It looks like you will need a new motherboard if you want a quadcore.

I suppose so. Thanks a lot for your help. I really appreciate it, man.
