Hello,
I reported this problem in an earlier post but now have some additional
information to report.
Problem: I'm getting a weird horizontal flickering effect when playing
videos on my Axim X50v using the embedded (ActiveX) WMP10 player. I
originally thought the problem was isolated to my Dell Axim X50v but now
several other Axim X50v owners have confirmed the same flickering problem.
I've posted a test page with a short embedded video at
http://www.victorypointfx.com/aximsite/activex.htm. Feel free to copy the
HTML code and try your own videos to see what happens.
Is the flickering a potential bug with the WMP10 OCX on Windows Mobile 2003
SE or is it a problem specific to the Dell Axim X50v? I've also tried
many different videos using different encoding parameters and sizes but they
all flicker on my X50v. It should be noted that the videos play fine on a
WinXP computer with IE6.

The OCX is just built-in to the media player 10 player for PDAs. You
cannot download this version of the player unless the device
manufacturer makes it available, as it involves a ROM upgrade.
If you want to instantiate the media player OCX just use more or less
the same code as for the desktop version of media player, though you'd
probably need to do some kind of server-side client sniff, or a client
side redirect based on version information before using it (the object
classID differs for versions before MP10 on PPC) : see these pages

Okay, this appears to have gotten off topic. Can anyone confirm the
flickering issue with a PDA running WM 2003 SE?

Yes, there's an identical post from dcarlson 11/04 on this newsgroup.
You guys might want to review the available symptoms, possibly contact
dell "support" (laughs!) initially to see if any resolution is
available.
I'll try to keep an eye on the discussion, and see if there's anything
MS knows about this, but I haven't seen this report yet for other
devices with WM10 so it might be a specific issue for video
acceleration on the Dell.

The Axim A03 ROM update lists improvements for both streaming video and
updates to the Intel graphics that might be helpful for this problem. I
can't test this on my X50v since it arrived with the AO3 ROM.
