Interim photo editing on a GMA950

Looking at getting a decent screen for photo editing, and sometime in the future getting a decent desktop. But in the meantime I'm lumbered with an old Lenovo 3000 V100, which has an integrated Intel GMA950. Is it worth getting a decent 24 inch screen, or will it be too hobbled by this graphics card? Not too worried about performance - 1GB RAM and a slow processor make that pretty pathetic anyway - just need to know if it can handle a decent resolution & refresh rate. Would other things like the colour gamut be affected? I have a pretty expensive purchasing roadmap what with lenses and all that so two years may pass until I can afford a proper desktop...

Cheers

So I can believe Intel's blurb when it says "2048x1536 at 75 Hz maximum resolution" (http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/gma950/index.htm)?

That's a funny looking resolution. A 24" LCD monitor is 1920 x 1200 so I would assume you can hook a 24" LCD screen to it.

I don't much any experience with integrated video I'm afraid. Even my IBM ThinkPad T40 from 2002 had a Radeon 7500 video card.
