hi all -- first time poster

can any damage be done by having more than 4GB ram installed when operating xp 32 bit OS?

Nope, you won't cause any damage - you just won't be able to make use of the extra memory.

Windows XP 32 bit is limited to 3GB of RAM.

Windows XP 64 bit can support 4GB of RAM.
