Last response: in Components

Hi, Im looking to start a new build but dont have all the money yet. I am going to buy My case, PSU and cooling system first.

My plan is to overclock everything i can (I am new to overclocking but not afraid to do my homework on it). I will run 2x graphics cards i dont know if it will be crossfire or sli as of yet.

I hope this is info for you guys to help with ideas for me.

I would like to keep it around $300 but could very possibly take it to 400 if i had too.

Thanks in advance

Uno

More about : case psu cooling

Which PSU you should get depends on what kind of cards you may be considering running in SLI/CF. If you might be running some pretty big ones, get a 1000w, like the Corsair 1000HX.

You might be able to get by with something more along the lines of 750W, like the Corsair 750TX. And there's some middle ground, like this 850W OCZ. Corsair also has an 850. I won't delve in to exactly how big of a power supply you need, because I rarely bother figuring it out and just go with the overkill model to be safe/furtureproof, so my advice on that subject is probably bad :p .

We just listed off some top-notch heatsinks for the i7 in this thread.

Case is mostly a matter of personal preference, assuming you care at all what it looks like. Check out some models by Cooler Master, Thermaltake, or Antec to start.

All of this comes to a total of $300.97, wasnt even planning it but it came in at my projected budget which makes me very happy. :D

What do you think?

It amazes me that Newegg has free shipping on a HAF932 full tower case, and only lists it for $138.99

The shipping costs must be ~$40 for 3-5 day shipping, and that thing goes for $140-$150 at my local electronics store.

I agree %100 the free shipping is awesome and i wont have any of the guts of my rig for a while so i dont mind waiting for free shipping :D

How do you like the case? do you recommend it?

Modular means that most or all of the cables on it are detached, and you only add what you need. Non-modular has all the cables permanently attached, the drawback being that most people don't even use half of them, leaving a bulky mass of cables that you have to do something with.

The Haf series of cases is extremely popular for a good reason, they are good cases.
