hello toms hardware forum!

1.) using a '05 32" sharp aqous 1024x768 native 16:9 hdtv linked with
gtx 285 via dvi cable

2.) used Nvidia control panel>manage custom resolution to achieve
2048x1152 @ 60hzs

3.) cannot scale image onto desktop or in games (image expands past tvs borders, games must be played windowed)

4.) curiously, upon one boot, desktop and games scaled perfectly in 2048x1152 .The desktop and games were now centered and fit on screen. I knew this was possible because the aspect ratio of 2048x1152(16:9) would fit my screen if it were "scaled" or "condensed" down to be smaller. I was overjoyed, crysis and fallout 3 looked disgusting.

5.) next boot reverted the image BACK to step 3 above. Now trying to get back what I previously had.

6.) have troubleshooted my know-how to exhaustion. It seems Nvidia control panel is a finecky program, there is some advanced conflict going on preventing this mysterious "auto" scaleing from kicking in again.

7.)Its not monitor related as ive had it work with the same settings i have now, and my monitors built in image adjusting simply cant move around enough to accomidate new resolution, must be done through software.

Any program or tutorial for scaling and moving your display around?

Any commands, tweaks, or changes in crysis or fallout 3 files to scale new incoming resolution properly?

Anyone have experience with Nvidia tools?

Any tips or tricks would be awesome.

Thanks,
Joe
