SEARCH HELP FOR read only files and how to change them

Hello,
I bought a pen drive of 8 GB but i can't format it.The pen drive shows dat it is a read only memory.Plz help me how 2 change into a read-write memory

Make sure the pen drive does not have a small slider button that locks it. If it does, unlock that.
If not, you could use an utility like Killdisk to zero it and then re-initialize/format it under windows' disk management(control panel>administrative tools>computer management>storage>disk management).
