Why do I need a good graphics card to play blu-ray movies? Sure, my 4850 is more than enough. But when I accidentally encoded a video without a codec when I had my 8600GT and the file came to about 50GB, I was able to play it smooth as anything. So does blu-ray playback really need a good card?

Well unless you have a single core CPU like my P4 then no. Most Dual cores can handle the job, I don't know about Intel Pentium Dual CPUs. But I sure need my HD3650 to help playback the HD files.
