When you are on the AMD website for the ATI RADEON HD 4770 it shows a version of the video card with a cooler fan that runs the heat through a plastic piece that runs the heat through the back of the card and out the back of your computer case *not exactly sure what this plastic piece is called*.

http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonhd4700/index.html

...but when you look at amazon.com or tiger direct the video cards shown only have a cooling fan that doesn't blow the heat out the back which causes the heat to dissapate itself inside the case.

Is this 4770 with the cooling fan + plastic piece a cosmetic version? or is this some kind of aftermarket part? :heink:

Agree - it's cosmetic. That's a pic of their engineering sample, on which they borrowed and used the reference cooler from the older 3800-series cards. The sample cards reviewed both here on THG and on Guru3D look the same as the one on the AMD/ATI website.

I hope we start seeing non-reference designs, soon. More specifically, I want to see AMD/ATI's partners start making 1GB versions, and preferably with better cooling solutions designed to handle heavy overclocking.
