My dad put a pc2100 ram into what he later realized was a a pc100 slot. He then removed it and tried to start it up with the original ram cards. Nothing would happened...did he fry something?

Try clearing the cmos.

pc 2100 ram will not fit in a pc100 slot without physically damaging one or the other. The first is ddr and the later is sdram.
