Greetings all! Thanks again for any help in advance!
I have a PC with an A8N-SLI Deluxe MB in it. I have 4 gig of ram, a Athlon X2 4400+ I believe, optical, and some other basic goodies. I've been having a series of problems with it, and I'm now stumped.
My chipset fan was running really fast and hot and it (the PC) would randomly shut off. The fan itself wasn't spinning corrrectly, so I bought a Vantec Iceberq All-In-One VGA and Chipset Cooling Kit for it. I chose this particular model because they decided to put the chipset directly next to the PCIe slot for video, and I can't get anything big on the chipset. It worked for a week, and then....
It started to turn off again. I checked my powersupply it it had a bad voltage on it. I replaced it. It worked for a week and then....
More turning off. My CPU fan sounds like rice crispies. I bought some monster cooler. Worked for a bit and then...
It started turning off again! My video card was making a lovely grinding noise, and I decided for the money, it was better to just replace it than get a new fan for it. I picked a PCIe Radeon HD 4870. Nice card, works good. I got about a week on it, and....
It is turning off randomly again. Now my chipset fan is running like crazy and its HOT. The Vantec has no feedback, so I cna't see how fast its running, but it sounds like a weed-wacker. Unfortunately, I can't get a bigger cooler becasue the 4870 sits right on top of it. If I put my hand near the chipset, I can tell is definetly warm - I can't touch it due to heat.
Any ideas how to fix this? I'd hate to spend another 300$ on a new MB and Proc, but I can't see what else to do. That just means a reformat and I'd loose some programs I have on there I can't reinstall.
