.As it turns out, this procedure did not produce the Key, in XP Pro at least, and I would assume all windows machines.

Actually, he asked for a product KAY. Not a key. So it cant be against forum rules as there is no rule against asking for kays.

The easy solution is to buy a legal copy Windows XP because it comes with a free product key.
