in speedfan i have a temperature that is reporting at 97*C.

It is listed as Temp1, Chip IT8720F.

I know it is not my GPU, and I know its not my processor.

Doing a touch test, the only thing that was too hot to touch was what I believe is my northbridge. (smaller heatsink under my processor).

Is this what is running at 97? If it is, is this dangerously high? I have no other heat issues (I7 920 34*C Idle, 45ish under load, with a 8800GTS running at around 50ish idle).

Thank you in advance!

Sorry, also worth noting, I am doing no overclocking, and I know its not one of my HD's

Uhm... how do I put this... if you put your finger on the northbridge heatsink of an i7 system, then you've got an imagination so good that it subconsciously contracted the muscles in your finger to make it feel like you were touching something that wasn't there.

Now... find out what you actually touched then get back to us ^_^
