HOW MUCH READING SPEED FOR GAMING WILL I LOOSE RUNNING RAID 5 WITH 5 INTEL 40 GIG SOLID STATES vs RAID 0 or 1 WITH THE SAME DRIVES

Forget RAID on a PC. RAID is for servers.

MANY threads here on this..

If you want speed get an SSD (64 or 80GB) for your C: drive.

Install large data on 2nd hard drive, external drive or NAS

RAID 0 is not going to gain you speed, just trouble.

Since SSDs also use RAID0 internally, following that argument he shouldn't buy SSDs too. Though i guess your point was that messing with onboard RAID is unreliable and can lead to dataloss; but i wouldn't agree with the statement that RAID is only for servers. The principle behind RAID is used throughout any computer.
